Mashup

Interconnection between buildings is enhanced by the use of rigid rectilinear geometry, suggesting linear movement and organisation. Spaces emphasize connection between people, buildings and site. A juxtaposition of architecture and environment creates a unifying experience through spaces.

ARCH1101 EXP2 Final Submission (I)

The 2 clients: Charles Rennie Mackintosh (Dead) and Ken Yeang (Living)

These 2 clients have different architectural aesthetics.

For Charles Mackintosh, he created buildings notable for the elegance and skillful detailing. He is considered Britain's first designer of true art nouveau architecture. Also, he believes that buildings are not a machine for living but a work of art. To me, I perceive Mackintosh to have a very grounded and natural aesthetic, and that his architecture projects a kind of serenity.

On the other hand, Ken Yeang is best known as the inventor of the bioclimatic skyscraper and for his novel ideas on vertical urban design. He is one of the pioneers in developing an aesthetic for ecodesign and believes in vertical green urbanism. I feel that Yeang's aesthetic is green, tall structures, and also something that is forward thinking, bold, fresh and innovative.

I put the monuments in such an environment that will accommodate both architects' aesthetics that I have perceived. Mackintosh's monument in an environment that exudes a sense of serenity, while Yeang's elongated monument in surrounding greenery. These monuments are mainly linked by a bridge that stretches across the coast.

Landscape

The relation of monuments to the landscape and also pathways that lead to the monuments.
Landscape has more greenery on higher ground and the meeting space is both the bridge and the beach.
